Reaction rate of carbon dioxide in glycidyl methacrylate solution using tricaprylylmethylammonium chloride as a catalyst
Carbon dioxide was absorbed into organic solutions of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) in a semi-batch stirred tank with a plane gas-liquid interface at 101.3 kPa to measure absorption rates of carbon dioxide, from which the reaction kinetics between carbon dioxide and GMA were studied by using tricaprylylmethylammonium chloride catalyst. The reaction rate constants of the reaction were estimated by using the mass transfer mechanism accompanied by the pseudo-first-order reaction. An empirical correlation formula between the reaction rate constants and the solubility parameters of solvents such as toluene, N-methyl-2-pirrolidinone, and dimethyl sulfoxide was presented.
