Numerical Mass Balances for Cross Flow Membrane Contactors and Their Approximations
Membrane contactor processes for stripping of sparingly soluble components such as oxygen are well understood. For readily soluble components in cross flow hollow fiber membrane modules, however, mass balances are less well established. In the present study, numerical and analytical solutions for cross flow modules are presented and compared with hitherto used solutions. Based on the comparison the best approximate solution is proposed.
