Effect of SO2 Gas on Regeneration of Sulfated CuO/γ-Al2O3 Sorbent
The effect of SO2 gas on regeneration of the sulfated CuO/γ-Al2O3 sorbent by hydrogen gas has been determined in a thermogravimetric analyzer(TGA). The presence of SO2 gas reduces the regeneration rate of the sulfated CuO/γ-Al2O3 sorbent and regeneration conversion of pseudoequilibrium state is observed. Equilibrium conversion decreases with increasing SO2 concentration up to 15vol% and then remains constant. Without SO2 gas injection, the regeneration reaction by hydrogen gas resumes and the amount of desorbed SO2 exhibits a constant value of 0.9μmol SO2/m2 regardless of SO2 concentration and regeneration temperature employed.
