4-oxo-2, 6-dimethyl-2, 6-diethylpiperidine [III] and its N-oxyl [N], the homologs of 4-oxo-2, 2, 6, 6-tetramethyl piperidine [I] and its N-oxyl [II] were synthesized in 17.9 % yield from methylethylketone and in 62 % yield from [III].
And some new compounds containing [I] and [II] were also synthesized. They are heterocyclic azonitriles [VII, IX].
Compound [IX] has an unstable azo group and stable N-oxyl group in same molecule, and we synthesized three phthalic diesters and three phthalic diamides containing N-oxyl.
Three phthalic diamides having piperidine were also synthesized.
All compounds were identified by spectroscopic methods and elemental analyses.
